The Duracast Process
In 1980, while experimenting with a new material, Kay formed a durable polymer solution for life size figures.
She has since been very successful in creating personal portraits using the polymer, combined with her extraordinary skill as a sculptor.
The process takes six to eight hours with the subject; the model can be seated or standing. It then takes three to eight weeks to complete the portrait in detail.
The finished figures are unique and one of a kind, while being both durable and lightweight.
Although Kay prefers to leave these pieces white, they can also be painted, depending on the client's preference.
